Into Nestora

A cornucopia of culture, history, and architecture, Nestora has stood since before the Chaos Wars. The party quickly learns that the city-state is in a period of strife. Revolutions is painted on the walls and the atmosphere is tense. In response, the city is under heavy surveillance and guard.

Soon after arriving, a nearby explosion draws the PCs into a scene of chaos. Several Nestoran Guard trucks have been set ablaze following a mysterious attack, the drivers either unconscious or already dead. Countless other civilian victims lay in the street and the party quickly rushes to the rescue. The heroes break through a windshield, heal the severely wounded, and encourage the other civilians to assist in the rescue. Before the heroes can receive any praise, the Nestoran Guard arrives and clears the scene. In the heat of the moment a civilian verbally taunts one of the guards. He is quickly shot, a bag placed over his head, and thrown into one a Nestoran Guard truck. The message is loud and clear: back away from the scene. As the PCs make their way deeper in the city, they notice that the Nestorans have already moved on from the incident that occurred a few blocks away. They seem almost numb to it.

Before heading to Farkaya’s shop, the party decides to visit the other merchants since they are in the Market Square. It is there that they meet Salvin Green, a local blacksmith and entrepreneur. Salvin takes all of their orders for new armor and even begins work on custom armor for Drogon. Salvin was unable to repair Rakon’s wristwatch but, one of Salvin’s friends, a gnome by the name of Letch, quickly offers his assistance in the matter. Having left their valuables in the hands of complete strangers, the heroes decide it is finally time to meet with Farkaya.

Alpha Hellion

The heroes continued their journey into the depths of the brewery with Keg-E guiding them towards the washrooms. Another group of Hellions failed to ambush the party as the PCs quickly noticed a trap and prepared for battle. The battle was swift yet costly as the acid from a Hellion’s grenade corroded Tor’s armor.

After dispatching the Hellions the PCs followed the last few sparks into one of the farthest chambers, the well room. It was there that they found where the Hellion life-force had been accumulating. An Alpha Hellion lay in within the well, consuming bucket after bucket of the Beer Baron’s best ale. The heroes jumped into battle with the drunken monstrosity and after several rounds with minor scrapes and bruises, the Alpha Hellion was destroyed.

The party returned to the Baron, collected their reward and rested for a bit before packing their bags and bidding farewell to their gracious host and new admirer. It was time to resume their journey into Nestora, seek out the sage Farkaya, and learn the secrets of the orb.

Save the Beer!

The heroes and Keg-E made their way to Durlain’s Pass in hopes of saving the beer (and Gurlock)! White-Hawk Bandits had blocked the road and were assaulting the Beer Baron’s magical caravan. The party jumped into battle and swiftly defeated the bandits. Unfortunately, the Baron’s guards fell in combat but he was grateful that at least his caravan and most of his beer survived the encounter.

After clearing the road the PCs rode the the caravan back to the Pegasus Roadhouse where Gurlock raised a toast to his fallen guards and thanked the party for their bravery. He then rewarded everyone by tapping his newest brew: The Old Chaotic Neutral! The adventurers were named Heroes of the Beer and were given free room and board at the Pegasus Roadhouse.

The next morning, Gurlock hired the party to escort him back to his estate, Brewcore. Upon arriving, he was to pay them with 5 gold and a party. The journey to Nestora went extremely smoothly. Tolls were no problem thanks to Tor’s intimidation of one of the Baron’s nemesis. Flick and Rakon were able to repair and even improve the core reactor of the Caravan, expediting their travel time. And not even the elements of weather were an issue as the party held barrels of beer in place through gusty winds. Upon arrival at Brewcore the PCs are treated to a tour of the Beer Baron’s fantastic grounds and manor. As promised, the Baron pays them 5 gold and throws them a grand party in his banquet hall.

The heroes awake to a delicious breakfast and the Baron’s hangover antidote. As they prepare to head into Nestora, they are interrupted by a traumatized brewery worker who claims strange creatures are assaulting the brewery. The Baron once again requests the aid of the PCs.

Within one of the mills the party quickly encounters and disposes a group of Hellions who had been destroying machinery and killing mill workers. As each Hellion was slain its life-force was drawn deeper into the brewery. And so the heroes followed the trail into the brewery’s well room in an effort to discover what was drawing each Hellion spark.

Humble Beginnings

The party gathered at camp in the morning, discussing fragments of their past and reviewing the accomplishments over the last few months. In particular they reminisced about their first major victory. Weeks after escaping from indentured servitude, Rakon had found solace in a warm meal and good drink offered by The Bricks, a tavern owned by Flick Granger’s family. His peace would be cut short however, as his previous owner had tracked him down and arrived at The Bricks to collect his property. He entered the tavern followed by several thugs who began to assault Rakon. It was perhaps fate that other heroes of this adventure were there that day. Tor Blackfire, Feredir Shadshot, Flick Granger and his trusty companion Drogon all rose to Rakon’s defense. The battle was swift yet destructive. Rakon’s owner received a near fatal blaster shot from Feredir but in the last few moments he was able to escape. His thugs had not been so lucky. It was this moment that the heroes of this adventure realized what they could accomplish together and they were forever bound in loyal friendship.

As they all sat eating breakfast, the discussion turned from the distant past to the job in Malrath Village. It was there that the heroes received a magical sphere as a reward for saving the villagers. Unfortunately, no one in the village was able to identify what the orb actually was. To make up for that dissapointment, the villagers threw our heroes a grand party. During the feast, they had the honor of meeting Gurlock The Beer Baron. The Baron enjoyed the company of the heroes so much that he recommended they head to Nestora to both enjoy the comforts of the Pegasus Inn, one of his favorite establishments, and to seek out a sage named Farkaya who could help them identify the magical sphere.

The sun had already begun to set when the heroes arrived at the Pegasus Roadhouse, a three-story building that had stood since before the Chaos Wars and served many functions over time. For the past few decades it had been owned by the Theonus family and converted into a popular Nestoran Outskirts Tavern. Upon entering, the party found the inn to be completely packed. The party met Tain and Winnifred Theonus and enjoyed the night’s complimentary food and drink. Within an hour of their arrival, the party became unwitting participants in the Battle of the Boasts, a local annual celebration to commemorate how Nestorans rose up against the Prophet Dahwan, starting the end of the Chaos Wars. Each of the adventurers regaled their accomplishments and portrayed themselves as heroes of the Chaos Wars, winning the crowd over.

Just as the revelers began to push beers into the hands of the adventurers, the door to the Pegasus Roadhouse burst open. Keg-E, the Beer Baron’s keg-robot, stood before the crowd alerting everyone that the Beer Baron and his caravan were under attack by White-Hawk bandits. The party jumped at the chance to rescue their friend, protect his caravan, and save the beer!
